phorias, you're right in theory, but there are still some flaws in that reasoning. There are also people using old computers because they:

- never needed a better/faster one;

OR can't buy a new computer but still have to:
- buy food, clothes etc;
- document for work, school etc;
- keep in touch with relatives, friends etc;
... and so on

The point is people have various needs and the computer is mostly a tool, that sometimes doesn't require too much attention or at all, unless it's broken. I agree with supporting IE6 FOR extra cash. Website owners have to know as a fact that it's OK to want a cool website that's "smart" enough to do many things, but the old browsers are far from cool and they simply need special attention. That translates into time, which also needs to be translated in money. Right?

If they cannot affort a new PC then they cannot affort buying stuff from your web site.
Do you have a site that doesn´t sell anything(products or services)? If no then why did you spent money/time to create it? For fun and glory?

Well, unfortunately, the answer is in the video of this post... We kind of have to... right?

We make websites for "regular people", not for us. If they don't know the difference between Firefox and Google what will they think when they find our website all "wrong-looking"?

Cheers

Funny video. Hopefully ie6 will die soon... In some environments, ie6 support is still nedeed, why ? reluctance to upgrade the hardware, software or both.

I had many doubts about IE6. The final decision: NO.

I don't care about users using IE6 anymore.
I don't care about users with an old 14''-15'' monitor with 1024x768px resolution or so.

I'll choose the minimum resolution 1280x800, and configure sites for internet browsers NOT older than 2 years ago.

A site with a big width(not 100%) and done for the latest internet browser save A LOT OF WORKING TIME.

Only extra-payment will decide the configuration for older internet browsers(it's a dumb think anyway). How about I start using on my 64bit Win Vista, Adobe Photoshop 5 ?!?!?!?!!?
